Radiesse
Radiesse is a collagen-stimulating dermal filler that provides long-lasting results. The gel contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres that provide some lift to the skin. Over the course of several weeks, the presence of the microspheres triggers collagen production. The collagen provides a structure for the skin to help fend off wrinkle formation. Radiesse® does not stop the aging process, but it is designed to reduce the depth of wrinkles for a period of time.
About
Radiesse® relies on collagen production to soften wrinkles, and Juvéderm® replenishes the hyaluronic acid that binds with water. Increasing collagen levels in the skin may provide longer-lasting results compared to the mechanisms of hyaluronic acid.
Candidates
Dr. Baker recommends Radiesse® for his patients with:
- Aged hands
- Wrinkles at the corners of the mouth
- Marionette lines
- Smile lines
- Wrinkles on the chin
Procedure
Radiesse® works by distributing the gel consistently in the treatment area. This requires a series of injections, and Dr. Baker determines how many injections you need during the consultation appointment.
Recovery
Localized swelling, tenderness, and bruising may develop shortly after your Radiesse® injections. These symptoms are related to the process of injecting Radiesse®. The symptoms typically last only a day or two.
Results
Radiesse® reviews will tell you that this facial filler provides results for 12 to 18 months. This does vary by patient, and Dr. Baker schedules periodic follow-up appointments to determine when you need maintenance injections of Radiesse® filler.
