Hair Transplant
Hair transplantation at The Retreat Restorative & Aesthetics is a minimally invasive procedure in which hair follicles are taken from a donor area and placed into an area with less or thinning hair. Dr. Joshua Baker uses a hair transplantation technique called follicular unit extraction (FUE), which involves harvesting individual hair follicles to be transplanted into the recipient area. FUE allows for minimal scarring, discomfort, and downtime after your treatment. At The Retreat, Dr. Baker and his team also offer the addition of Platelet Rich plasma (PRP) to FUE hair transplantation treatments to maximize results and aid in overall recovery.
Procedure
Our FUE hair transplantation is done in-office by Dr. Baker and his team. Before the procedure begins, we will numb the scalp using a local anesthetic to help minimize any discomfort you may feel during the procedure. Once the area is numb, we can begin to harvest individual hair follicles from the donor area, usually near the back of the head. These individual follicles will then be transplanted into the area with thinning hair. Additionally, ACP therapy could be used in addition to the FUE technique as a booster to aid in the healing process of each transplanted follicle and add a nutritional matrix to the treated area for maximum results.
Recovery
Because this is a minimally invasive procedure, recovery after your hair transplantation will be minimal. You may experience some soreness, redness and scabbing in the treated area for two to three days after your treatment. Most patients are able to resume their normal daily activities within seven days of treatment.
Results
The results of your hair transplantation procedure have the potential to last a lifetime. You should be able to see your new, transplanted hair growing in about three to four months after your initial procedure.
Candidates
If you have a problem with thinning hair and would like to address it with minimal downtime and scarring, FUE hair transplantation may be right for you. Ideal candidates for hair transplantation are men and women between the ages of 20 and 50.
